I must try this soup again one day as it was pretty good, just a tad too spicy.Melhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10057980932079998162noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5596036395193130130.post-34475543186468034282011-11-11T10:07:51.651+11:002011-11-11T10:07:51.651+11:00Hahaha, it's so funny how many of us this has ...Hahaha, it's so funny how many of us this has happened to, and how we're all slowly having our lightbulb moments!Matthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15943551456855944061noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5596036395193130130.post-51730785717240896492011-03-20T17:47:25.697+11:002011-03-20T17:47:25.697+11:00Chili powder is different in the US! They use it over there to make chili... you know that stew/soup with beef, beans, tomato, veggies etc.Raw Oz Galhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12783210581960264060noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5596036395193130130.post-30142958147039848332011-03-09T14:34:45.407+11:002011-03-09T14:34:45.407+11:00Well I am a chilli wuss but these comments about U...Well I am a chilli wuss but these comments about US recipes now makes sense - I find Isa's recipes have heaps of chilli powder. Though we had curry chickpeas on the weekend that were so hot neither I nor E (who loves chilli) could eat themJohanna GGGhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08594201473931487490noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5596036395193130130.post-80377630059828673862011-03-09T11:45:50.911+11:002011-03-09T11:45:50.911+11:00Thanks Penny and Cindy, thought that might be the ...Thanks Penny and Cindy, thought that might be the case but it's good to have it confirmed. I should have used more of my cooking common sense when I made this and started off with a smaller amount of chilli powder. You can always add more if necessary but you can't take it out ;)Melhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10057980932079998162noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5596036395193130130.post-59922746197606142542011-03-09T11:10:44.451+11:002011-03-09T11:10:44.451+11:00I agree with Penny, and would also add that there ...I agree with Penny, and would also add that there is also a bit of variation between chilli powders here anyway. I seem to have a pretty potent one too, I wouldn't use any more than a teaspoon of it in a 'serves 4-6' sized pot! And yet I have also seen plenty of American recipes using a tablespoon or two.Cindyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07147906610629741961noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5596036395193130130.post-64006809636356457542011-03-08T19:48:13.174+11:002011-03-08T19:48:13.174+11:00I often have that problem with US recipes - I made...I often have that problem with US recipes - I made burritos when I was young and first became vego. The recipe called for 2 tablespoons of chilli powder which I added - it was HOT!!!

I assume they have some kind of red pepper powder there which is way milder?Pennyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12342156788487840179noreply@blogger.com
